Following the strategic partnership announced earlier in 2024, Syklo and Impact Recycling have released architectural renderings of the planned recycling facility in Hyvinkää, Finland.

Facility overview

The facility has been designed to handle two distinct waste streams from a single integrated plant:

  • 25,000 tonnes per year of post-consumer flexible waste plastic
  • 25,000 tonnes per year of post-consumer rigid waste plastic

This split-stream configuration reflects the different separation requirements of film and rigid materials. BOSS technology handles the rigid stream, with advanced water management throughout to contain microplastics and prevent environmental release.

Scale in context

At 50,000 tonnes annual capacity, the Hyvinkää plant is projected to be the largest plastic recycling facility in Finland — and the first of its scale in Europe to combine rigid and flexible stream processing on a single site using Impact Recycling’s density-separation approach.

The renderings show a purpose-built industrial facility with dedicated intake, separation, and finishing areas, alongside wastewater treatment infrastructure to support the water-intensive BOSS process.
